The Eye Clinic Welcomes New Administrator

Michael Betzen has joined The Eye Clinic as the group’s Practice Administrator.

Originally from Canyon, Texas, Betzen brings 24 years of experience in ophthalmic practice management to his new position. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Masters of Business Administration, both from the University of Phoenix in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Betzen comes to The Eye Clinic from Eye Associates of New Mexico, one of the largest eye care practices in the United States, with over 50 doctors and 15 clinic locations statewide. He held a variety of management positions there, most recently serving as Regional Director, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the group’s three Albuquerque area facilities.

A decorated member of the New Mexico National Guard, Betzen was deployed to the Middle East during Operation Iraqi Freedom and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and the Combat Action Badge. He was also deployed to Kirkland Air Force Base during Operation Enduring Freedom.

Betzen was the co-author of a practice productivity improvement article published in the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s EyeNet magazine in 2013. He is a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

The Eye Clinic is the largest provider of comprehensive eye care in Southwest Louisiana, with 13 doctors and locations in Lake Charles, Sulphur, Moss Bluff, Deridder and Jennings.
