Botox
Botox works by immobilizing the muscles people use when they frown or squint. The area treated appears relaxed and smooth, with a dramatic reduction in facial wrinkles. The treatment takes a few minutes and causes very little discomfort with no recovery time. During a consultation, Dr. Crawford will determine the best treatment to maximize your results.
Kybella
The first and only, FDA-approved, injectable treatment that safely and effectively reduces and improves the appearance of moderate to severe fat below the chin without surgery. The active ingredient in Kybella is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. Once injected into the area, Kybella causes the destruction of fat cells, which are then eliminated naturally by the body.
During the initial consultation, Dr. Crawford performs a careful examination of the area and develops a customized treatment plan to address the anatomic needs and goals of the patient. Treatment requires multiple sessions – anywhere from two to six – scheduled about a month apart.
The injection process takes about 20 minutes. Afterward, there is no down time; patients can return to normal activities. Results should begin to be noticeable within a few weeks, with the final outcome apparent after a few months.
“Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat, so the results of Kybella are permanent,” says Dr. Crawford. “It is very exciting to have a minimally-invasive way to contour a double chin or fatty neck with no surgery, no downtime and relatively little discomfort.
Fillers
There are several cosmetic filler injectables available today to help restore your skin’s volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds. Fillers are used to create volume and shape, defining the lips and smoothing out skin, wrinkles, and lines. Certain filler materials work better for deeper lines (static wrinkles) and others for more superficial lines (dynamic wrinkles). Dr. Crawford evaluates each patient and their specific needs before deciding which filler will work best for their area of concern.
When used appropriately, fillers provide very natural-looking results than in the past. These treatments are also convenient. No skin testing is required, the injections take just minutes, results are visible immediately and can last nine months or more.
